About The Wicked Prints Co
Founded in 2020 by graphic designer Ashley Wood, The Wicked Prints Co specialises in fine art prints and homeware, all made to order and printed on demand through Prodigi (that’s us).
Since making its debut on Etsy, a global marketplace for selling unique and creative goods, the online gift shop has made more than £50,000 in profits, shipped over 3,000 orders all over the world and boasts an impressive five-star rating – not bad for a side hustle.
From museum-quality prints and posters to customisable cushions, mugs and clocks splashed with original abstract artwork, botanical designs and line drawings, The Wicked Prints Co is the ultimate destination for contemporary art lovers and pro gift-givers.
It’s never ‘just’ a side gig
Ashley’s love of graphic design gave him the idea to start his own business. “I’m hugely passionate about the design industry, particularly interior design. I decided to harness all my knowledge on the subject and start producing quirky modern art for homes.” Cue, The Wicked Prints Co.
When it came to figuring out the logistics, such as product sourcing, printing and fulfilment, Ashley wasted no time searching for a print on demand provider. “I found Prodigi after months of online research and weighing up competitors – none of which really compared to Prodigi. Not having to pay any upfront costs just made sense, and after ordering the sample pack, I knew I’d made the right choice.”
“One of the things I love about Prodigi is that I can come home from work, switch on my laptop and spend half an hour placing customer orders. All I have to do is upload the artwork to the manual order form, along with the customer’s address, and they handle the rest. The time I save using Prodigi is fundamental to my business. It allows me to work a full-time job, run a business and still have plenty of time for family.”
So what’s next for The Wicked Prints Co?
Adding more Prodigi print on demand products to the Etsy store, of course. “The only thing I ever harass Prodigi for is new products. I know the team are always working on adding new lines, but I’m just way too impatient!” As well as expanding his product range, Ashley also has his sights set on turning The Wicked Prints Co into a £1m business — and after the success he’s had so far, why not?
His advice to other budding online sellers looking to start their own business? “Planning. Map everything out. It saves so much time and simplifies everything in the long run. Order samples from Prodigi, and work out exactly which products you want to sell. You don’t need any background in business to get started.”
