FAQ: Sustainability

How sustainable is print on demand as a business model?

Running a print on demand business is one of the most sustainable ways to sell physical products online. Prodigi enables anyone anywhere in the world to create and sell locally made products globally, minimising overproduction, promoting local fulfilment and reducing carbon emissions in the process.

Joining our Prodigi is quick and easy. Businesses simply have to create an account to get direct access to our sustainable supply chain, which then allows them to sell and dropship print on demand products all over the world.

I want to sell eco-friendly print on demand products in my store. Is this possible?

Absolutely! Our eco collection features a wide range of eco friendly print on demand products for you to design and sell online, including organic clothing, recycled canvas prints and recyclable greetings cards.

All of the products in our eco collection have a minimum of three eco credentials. For example, our Stanley/Stella apparel range is made from organic cotton and/or recycled materials, printed using water-based inks and delivered in plastic-free packaging.

Is your packaging sustainable?

Many of our print on demand products come in sustainable packaging, including all of our Stanley/Stella products. We also opt for packaging that’s recyclable, compostable or made from recycled content as much as is practicable.

We avoid using plastics wherever possible across our operations, including in our packaging. As well as eliminating cling film from our supply chain, we’ve also introduced a sustainable alternative to plastic end caps through our zero-plastic packaging solution, Ecocaps. For products that require added protection, we use environmentally friendly plastics, such as biodegradable OPP bags and bubble wrap that can be recycled at special collection points.

Are your inks eco friendly?

At Prodigi, we’ve eliminated the use of solvent inks throughout our supply chain and only use neo pigment, water-based inks or eco solvent inks to produce our print on demand products:

Neo pigment, water-based inks are 100% non-hazardous and toxin-free. They meet the strictest industry standards as defined by Oeko-Tex 100 safety applications for infant wear, Global Organic Textiles (GTOTS-3V), Residues Standard List (RSL) and the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists.

Eco solvent inks derive from ether extracts taken from refined mineral oil. While they still contain harmful solvents, they have a lower VOC content than standard solvent inks and are significantly less hazardous.

Are your picture frames made from sustainably sourced wood?

Yes, they are! We use wood and pulp sourced from sustainably managed forests to make all of our picture frames.

Sustainably managed forests meet the needs of wildlife while supporting livelihoods and providing many other ecosystem services, such as carbon storage and flood risk mitigation.

Do you have a sustainability page?
